After earning a bachelor's degree in Zoology, Dr. Williams was accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, VA. After graduation, he and his family moved to Powell to put down roots in a small community with big values.
The most important things in life to Dr. Williams are his family and his faith. Dr. Williams met his sweet wife, Bridget, during his freshman year at ISU, and they were married shortly after. After several wonderful years, they have welcomed six beautiful children into their family and never looked back.

Microscope Dentistry
Most dentists work only through dental loupes - small magnifiers attached to glasses. Most of these magnify between 2.5 to 3.5 times and can’t adjust. While this is, in may cases, all that is needed, there are times when seeing just a little more makes all the difference. Digital Imaging
Quickly becoming the standard for dental imaging, digital technology has opened up a wonderful new world in dental x-rays. Nearly instantly, the images of your teeth show up on the computer screen, in many circumstances, requiring less radiation than traditional x-rays (some studies say there is up to a 70% reduction). Digital x-rays also can be adjusted and enhanced with software to allow better diagnoses and monitoring. 3D Imaging
Another amazing technology available at our office is Cone Beam Computed Tomography. Similar to a medical CT scan, Cone Beam has the radiation similar to, and even less than, some regular dental x-rays. When looking for the right equipment for our office, two things were of utmost importance. First, low radiation. We have the Instrumentarium OP300 which produces amazing scans with some of the lowest doses available on the market. Second: quality of image. The OP300 has the ability to see finer detail than even some of the high radiation medical CT scans.
So why do we need such a machine? One of the most important reasons is for proper implant placement. Many dentists place implants only looking at two dimensional x-rays, leaving them to guess where structures like nerves and sinuses are in relation to their work. Having a 3D image allows us to precisely plan where an implant will go, thus ensuring that we place them in the most ideal and safest position possible.
